This meeting is specifically to discuss the idea of promoting an additional 3 x 3 hour series.  The 3 events would be similar to the Dusk til Dark race held at Fermyn Woods.  1 in April, 1 in July and 1 in September.  Leave a comment to let us know what you think.

Any new race organisers, or would-be race organisers, are also welcome to join us.

2011 FNSS site in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 78,000 times in 2011. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 3 days for that many people to see it.

The ladies battle

Matt Barrett leads the field off

The final race of the 2011 series was run in great conditions to round off a mainly dry series. The Greetham course again a tough series of sharp climbs and loose turns. In the end most of the races were won in style by the series champs of the respective classes.

Hollie Bettles happy its all over

Most attention was on the ladies race, put simply who ever won out of Hollie Bettles/WXC and last years champ Amelia Cambridge from hosts Velo club Rutland would take the title. In the end Hollie led the race from start to finish in confident fashion and took the series by a slender point, a superb effort for the youngster. Amelia had to settle for series runner up, with teammate Rebecca Cunnel cementing third overall.

Rich Jones chases hard

The Senior title already belonged to defending champ Ryan Henry/MTZOOM and having spent time designing the course layout for tonight’s race he hoped to carry on his  good end of season run with another win. Richard Jones/Numplumz and Sam Sayers/Lutterworth cycles tried to join the party but in the end it was the familiar battle between Henry and Matt Barrett/Lutterworth cycles. locked together most of the race, Henry just took the sprint up the final killer hill to record his fifth win of the year. Jones took third in the race and overall in the series.

Vet Champ Paul Ashby

Paul Ashby/Fat Birds took the Vets win, his 11th of the series and his third series championship. Lloyd Bettles/Numplumz 2nd place wasn’t enough to overhaul 2nd place series man John Fettis/Corley Cycles and he takes 3rd overall trophy. A great battle for the lower placings raged all race and Gaz Strickland from Nick Towers and Mike Winters was the outcome. Mike moved himself up to 5th in the overall with that result.

In the Grand vets 2011 champ Pete Harris/Pearce Cycles was again in a class of his own,  8 races, 8 wins. Kim Marsh/HMF Pedal power followed in 2nd on the night holding off Vic Barnett/WVCC for 3rd. Previous years champs Tim Stowe and Martin Eadon had already been confirmed as series 2nd and 3rd respectfully.

Ollie Maxwell/Velo Rutland was a new winner on the Youth roll of honour from Welland Valley Whizz kids Louis Kilworth and James Garratt. Welland Valley took all top 5 places in the Youth series overall showing he clubs great efforts in development of young riders. Jake Hubbard is 2011 champ from Ben Morris

The Junior racing this year has been poorly supported, that doesnt detract from the speed of 2011 champ James Hyde/Numplumz-Pitsford cycles who has won 10 races this year and finished just behind the leading seniors at times. 2nd tonight was Aaran Sayers/Leics Rd club.
